The idea behind the name

Technology should reason like the people it serves.

ManTek is huMAN + TEKnologies, and it echoes the Arabic word منطق, meaning logic. Our logo draws that word as a brain: thoughtful systems, engineered with intent.

We don't believe scale and clarity are at odds. The most reliable publishing systems are the ones that mirror clear thinking: well-reasoned, legible, and humane all the way down to the infrastructure.

Logic-driven: Architecture decided by reasoning and real constraints, not by trends or default stacks.

Built inside a newsroom, for newsrooms.

ManTek's publishing platform, NUZ, was not designed in a vacuum. It was built over years inside a working broadcaster in Dubai, solving the same problems any newsroom faces when a story breaks: a CMS that has to keep editors moving, an infrastructure that has to absorb the spike, and a delivery layer that has to stay calm at peak.

The mix is deliberate. We keep editorial workflow where editors already work (WordPress, the most-used CMS on the web), and we offload everything heavy to AWS: files to S3, delivery to CloudFront, email to SES, notifications to SNS, request ingress through API Gateway. The result is a publishing system that scales when traffic does, instead of falling over.

After five years of running that architecture in production, the work continued: abstract NUZ into a clean, modular platform (separating the pieces that vary by newsroom from the patterns that don't) so other media organisations can run on the same foundation without rebuilding it from scratch. That is the work ManTek is here to do.

Behind ManTek

Sixteen years of UAE media, condensed into one practice.

ManTek was founded in 2025 by Jaafar Abazid, after sixteen years engineering digital systems for newsrooms in the United Arab Emirates.

Six of those years were at Dar Alkhaleej Press in Sharjah, engineering the editorial paperless workflow, the asset archive, and the PDF portal for Al Khaleej, the first newspaper founded in the UAE.

He moved to Alaan TV in Dubai Media City in 2016 as a senior frontend engineer on the newsroom platform, and over the following decade became Technical Lead, owning the WordPress + AWS architecture across the broadcaster's digital properties (akhbaralaan.net, alaan.tv, alaan.fm). The publishing platform he built there is the seed of what is now NUZ.

Jaafar is a 2007 graduate of Damascus University: IT Engineering, Department of AI.
